Anjali Khanna
Head of Primary ELL
GEMS Wellington Academy

Anjali Khanna has been working at GEMS Wellington Academy for the past five years, initially as an ELL teacher before progressing to lead the Primary ELL provision within the school. Prior to this, she worked in Scotland across schools within the borough as a lead practitioner and advisor for ELL. Throughout her career, she has remained dedicated to creating and implementing engaging, interactive lesson plans tailored to students' individual needs. Prioritising the building of productive relationships with both students and parents, she brings not only subject expertise but also a nurturing, motivating presence into the classroom.

Within the school, FlashAcademy® has been successfully implemented as a key assessment and learning tool, particularly for supporting ELL (English Language Learners). Its innovative features have allowed for more personalised instruction, real-time progress tracking, and the adaptation of teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs more effectively. FlashAcademy® has become an essential part of the toolkit in fostering language acquisition and building student confidence through measurable, data-informed growth.

Driven by a deep commitment to inclusivity and cultural understanding, she works to create a cooperative classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported. Her approach is solutions-oriented, adaptable to various learning styles, and grounded in a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork. With a ‘can do’ attitude, high standards, and excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, she strives not only to educate but to inspire. She welcomes opportunities to share best practices and collaborate with like-minded educators.
