Dr Luke Roberts is a visionary leader and systems practitioner who specialises in translating Complexity Theory into actionable strategy for the public and private sectors. A Cambridge PhD and CECAN Fellow, Luke’s work focuses on diagnosing systemic challenges and shifting organizational paradigms from linear ‘machine-thinking’ to sustainable ‘eco-systems’.
His recent international engagements include:
- Japan (Jan 2025): Collaborated with the Ministry of Education to develop specialized Complexity Modules and delivered sessions on negotiating within complex systems at APU University, Oita.
- Shanghai (Nov 2025): Invited by Education in Motion to lead intensive sessions for aspiring school leaders (Aspire Students) on navigating headship through a systemic lens.
- Finland (April 2026): Presenting at the Systemship Conference on ‘Educational Innovation for a Changing World,’ exploring how trusts can sustain change in volatile environments.
Luke is the author of Leading Schools and Sustaining Change: How to Think Big and Differently in Complex Systems (Routledge, 2024). As a member for a new Multi-Academy Trust and a mentor to senior corporate leaders, he brings a unique "pracademics" approach – bridging the gap between academic rigour and the messy reality of system-level transformation
