She has designed prevention and response strategies for victims of sexual violence and harassment. Maria played a key role in the development and delivery of the Preventing Sexual Misconduct Education (PSME) and Sexual Misconduct Liaison Officer (SMLO) models, supporting schools and colleges in creating a whole-school approach. She has presented nationally and internationally on healthy relationships and safeguarding in sport. Previously Maria has worked as a specialist safeguarding nurse and independent sexual violence advisor.
