Rocksteady Music School teaches inclusive, band-based music lessons to 100,000 children in 3,000+ primary schools every week, including more than 1,200 Multi Academy Trust schools nationwide.

With a pioneering child-led curriculum created from decades of experience teaching in primary schools, Rocksteady’s pedagogy is innately inclusive and designed so that any child, regardless of previous experience, can instantly learn to play an instrument in a band.

Delivered by highly trained professional musicians, Rocksteady band lessons are suitable for all pupils in mainstream education, including children with SEND, English as a second language, and additional behavioural needs.

All Rocksteady pupils, including those who attend the programme through a free bursary or match funded place, work towards an Ofqual-regulated exam-free music qualification, accredited by Trinity College London. This unique exam is supported by Rocksteady’s proprietary ed-tech, and each year, more children achieve this exam-free qualification than the total number who pass Music GCSEs and A-levels combined.

Alongside teaching pupils new musical skills, Rocksteady is also shown to have a significant impact on children’s wellbeing, confidence and social skills, as well as improving attendance rates and academic performance in other subject areas.
