Shahista Zamir is a headteacher and experienced senior leader with a strong track record of improving outcomes in schools serving highly disadvantaged communities across Birmingham. Her leadership is rooted in inclusion, safeguarding, equity, and social justice, with extensive experience reducing barriers for vulnerable pupils, including those with SEND, EAL, SEMH needs, and persistent absence.
By March 2027, Shahista will have completed over eighteen months in headship, successfully leading her school through inspection under the revised Ofsted framework while embedding a culture centred on high expectations, belonging, attendance, staff wellbeing, and relational leadership. She is recognised for her calm, values-driven approach and strong partnership work across school communities and wider agencies.
Alongside headship, Shahista has completed her NPQH and is completing a Masters in Educational Leadership. She contributes to wider system leadership through panels, community engagement, and national speaking opportunities, regularly speaking on new headship, safeguarding, relational leadership, inclusion, and leading sustainable school improvement with compassion and accountability
